This week we have continued our learning in Maths lessons on multiplication. We started the week using a Hundreds, Tens and Ones grid to times a 2 - digit number by 2 and 3. We represented the calculation using tens and ones dienes then practised saying out loud the number sentence, for example “3 lots of 21 equals 63”. On Tuesday, we then moved onto writing the calculation using the column method in our maths books. We are so proud that Year 3 are now able to multiply even bigger numbers using a formal method and are able to really see and understand why they are doing it in this way.
In Maths this week we have been looking at multiplication and division. Today we have been learning about the difference between grouping and sharing when dividing. We found 6 different ways to group 12 counters.
As part of our computing unit this half term, we are learning about how computers are connected in a network. Today we have been learning about the job of the server. To help us understand this, we went for a look at the school server. We were all very impressed and thought it looked like a spaceship!
For the past couple of weeks we have been practising counting to 10 in French. After only two lessons, the children were able to do this so confidently and with brilliant pronunciation! We finished our lesson today with a game of French Number Bingo. |
