Today, we made pancakes for Pancake Day. We found out where the ingredients came from and why we celebrate Pancake Day. The best part was eating them!
We were visited today by Compass Be Mental Health Support Team (MHST). MHST work with children and families in education settings in Barnsley and provide free, confidential support, help and advice for pupils and schools for issues related to mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Today, the workshop focused on emotions and how we feel inside. Firstly, we identified the different emotions that we know and how we show and represent these different emotions. We then looked at different scenarios and decided how someone may feel in different situations. The children then completed an activity sheet to show when they have felt surprised, happy, angry, excited, sad and worried. To finish the workshop the children listened to a story called ‘The Sun Can’t Shine Everyday.’ We have had a fun day today completing 4 different tasks around shapes. We have made 3D shapes with spaghetti and marshmallows, had a newspaper pyramid competition, played a trading game around shapes and even cracked the code to unlock a treat!
