In Maths this week we have been learning about geometry. Over the last few days we have been looking in particular at 3D shapes. We have learning about their names, properties and have been able to compare and contrast different shapes. Today we used a net to make our own 3D shapes!
We have started our second week of multiskills in our PE lessons. We have been practising a variety of movement, thinking and communication skills using a variety of different balls as well as the importance of working together as a team. Today, we looked at different ways we could roll and catch a ball then increased and decreased the level of difficulty. The weather has also been fantastic for it!
On Monday, we had a special visitor. A Sikh came into school to tell us all about the religion Sikhism. We learnt about how there is one God in Sikhism and learnt all about the language of Gurmukhi which is known as a Sikh script. We learnt about 3 main beliefs: to remember one all of the time, always share with each other and always tell the truth. We also learnt that there were 10 Gurus, we counted in Gurmukhi to work this out. We found out that a special place was created where Sikhs’ could go to meet the Guru’s, this was called the Harmandir Sahib. At the Harmandir Sahib you are asked to wash your hands, cover your hair and take off your shoes. We found out that you can go here if you go with love and you can go to say thank you. The Harmandir Sahib is known as the Golden Temple now. We learnt a lot about Sikhism today thanks to our Sikh visitor and have a better understanding about the Sikh religion.
