We have had a fantastic day at Weston Park Museum today consolidating and extending our learning about Ancient Egypt.
We have been thinking about how life in the Bronze Age in the UK compares to life in Ancient Egypt at the same time. We have seen a real Egyptian Mummy and artifacts that are thousands of years old! We carried out a science investigation to replicate the mummification process on tomatoes and even made our own artifacts! Every single member of the class set the perfect example and made the school proud! Well done Year 3! In our art lesson today, we started our new collage unit. We practiced tearing paper, overlapping and layering to make a collage fish. In the next few weeks we will be using newspaper to make a collage of the Iron Man!
This afternoon the year 3 and 4 children had a fantastic time building dens. They worked well in mixed teams to create a den with canes, tubes, zip ties, tarpaulin and pegs. We have some excellent dens that withstood the test of wind and rain and some that didn't! Great fun was had by all!
This half term we have started reading the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. The Iron man is about a gigantic metal robot who appears out of nowhere, crashing onto the beach and shattering into many parts. He is discovered by a young boy called Hogarth, who becomes his friend. We won’t give any more of the story away; we think the children will enjoy this novel just as much as our last book Billy the Kid.
