This afternoon, Y3 took part in a cross country event run by Barnsley Collage. Although the rain made us all very wet, this did not dampen our spirits. Every single member of the class completed the course and we even had some winners! Well done Year 3!
We have had a fantastic trip today to Creswell Crags. We have had the fantastic opportunity to experience some hands on learning about life in the Stone Age. We have been developing our survival skills, building our own shelters and hunting for bison. We have learnt about some of the different animals that lived in the area during the Stone Age and rebuilt their skeletons. We even got to go inside a real Stone Age cave and hold some real Stone Age tools!
This term our topic is ‘From Stone Age to Iron Age’. So far, we have learnt that:
In our art lesson today, we have been looking in more detail at cave art. We had a go at copying some cave art pictures and painting them using water colour paints in the same colours that would have been used in the Stone Age.
As part of today’s lesson, we started an investigation to show how sedimentary rocks are formed. We mixed together sand, soil, stones and water in a jar, to replicate the bottom of the sea. We will see over time what happens to these sediments.
We could already see them starting to separate after just one day! We started our first PE lesson today of Year 3 where we were practising multiskills. This half term, we will be focusing on practising different movement skills, such as reaction, balance, coordination and timing. This week we completed different games involving the underarm throw. Take a look at us in action!
