Due to the disturbance in our classroom (the naughty elves) we have been writing persuasive letters to Santa in order to try and convince him to send Zippity and Hoppity back to the North Pole. We have learnt about features of persuasive and formal letter writing and have implemented these in to our own letters. Lets hope Santa listens and helps us to find our nice elves which have apparently got lost in transition! This half term, our focus in art has been printing. We have learnt about a famous artist called William Morris and the ways in which he used print to create many different pieces of art and patterns. Over the last few weeks, we have experimented with different printing techniques such as monoprint, relief print and stamp print. We wanted to use one of these techniques to create a piece of festive Christmas wrapping paper and we decided stamp print would be the most appropriate to use for this task. The children spent time designing their Christmas stamps, creating them using string, glue and cardboard and then finally used a range of coloured paint to create their wrapping paper. Have a look at the photographs below to see us busy creating our masterpieces! Since December 1st, our Year 5 pupils have been dealing with some very naughty elves! The terrible twosome have caused many problems for us meaning we have had to lose our well-deserved break times cleaning up after them. The duo - Zippity and Hoppity- have shredded paper, had snowball fights, hung our PE kits from the ceiling, filled our draws and shoes with cereals, hung toilet paper across our classroom, ziplined across the room, drawn moustaches on our faces and written threatening messages on the board. Unfortunately, our nice elves got mixed up with this pair of troublemakers and now the Year 5 class have been suffering due to the actions of these elves. We are currently in the process of writing letters to the main man himself (Santa Claus) to beg him to send the nice elves instead! Keep a look out for our persuasive letters over the next few days and lets hope we can have this naughty pair sent back to the North Pole sharpish! |
