This morning, the children in Year 5 took part in a KS2 cross country event against two other schools. Every single child pushed themselves to their absolute limit, and I am so proud of each and every one of them. We even bagged ourselves a couple of 1st and 2nd places! Well done to all children who took part, despite the cold and wet weather!

Due to the extremely sad news regarding our queen last week, we have been busy in Year 5 learning all about her majesty and the exceptional service she has demonstrated to our country over the last 70 years. We have been busy in class creating some beautiful artwork to display around our school. Here are some of the amazing portraits created in Year 5! Our focus in PE this half term is football. This week, Year 5 have been focusing on dribbling and controlling the ball, as well as learning to pass accurately over longer distances. The children participated in many different mini games and activities to develop their skills in these areas along with developing key strategies for team work. This week in Maths we have been looking at numbers with up to 2 decimal places. We have worked on reading and writing tenths and hundreds, learnt skills in rounding to the nearest tenth and whole number and completed a range of problem solving and reasoning questions. This particular activity involved the children representing the decimals visually in a place value grid and setting challenges for their peers. |
