Year 6 had so much fun this afternoon and absolutely loved having the water fight. They got totally soaked but enjoyed every moment.

Within Design and Technology lessons, the Year 6 children have made their own burgers. To do this, they firstly made the bread rolls using: bread flour, yeast, butter, salt, sugar and water. After kneading and proving the dough, they shaped them into rolls and baked them to make delicious fresh bread. The KS2 corridor smelled amazing! Once the rolls were made, they also made their own burger patties from scratch using minced beef steak, breadcrumbs and seasonings. They enjoyed building their burgers by adding salad and sauces - their favourite part was eating it. They did so well to make all elements of a burger in just one day!
In art, Year 6 have started their collage project. Today, they created their background - we will keep you posted on the next steps.
During art lessons, the children have designed a clay tile based around an ocean theme. The children thought through each element of their tile. They decided which aspects would be sculpted in clay and which decorative pieces they would like to attach. Today they made their tiles; the next decision they will have is whether or not to paint the tile before varnishing it.
Today the Y6 girls took part in the Mental Health Awareness Colour Run hosted by Totally Runable What is a Colour Run? A colour run is an untimed running event, in this case around a sports field. At various stations, colour runners have different coloured powers thrown over them. Participants wear white at the starting line and will finish the race covered in colour. With no official winners or times, a colour run is the perfect event to have fun, get messy, and celebrate all the mental health benefits that physical activity brings. It is also a great way to inspire and empower less active children to live a more active lifestyle! The girls had a fabulous time participating in the run together and a great deal of fun was had by all. Year 6 are working so hard in school in preparation for their SATs. The children asked to revise symmetry as part of maths to deepen and strengthen their understanding. As an additional, creative lesson, we decided to explore symmetry in nature. Here are some examples of the work produced in our maths/art lesson this afternoon.
