The Year 6 children had a fantastic time on our trip to the LifeWise Centre - Crucial Crew. The children participated in 8 different scenarios that were aimed to help them to become prepared for life as they grow up. The children took part in the following scenarios: Hate and Knife Crime, The Magistrates Court, Fire Safety, Road Safety, Child Criminal Exploitation, Arson, Bus Safety and Water Safety. The children were ALL phenomenal and it was an absolute pleasure to have them represent our school.

Year 6 are learning to play the recorder within music lessons. They have made so much progress so far and are beginning to sound really great. Here they are practising a new, familiar song.
This week, Year 6 have been learning about rationing during WW2. We found an official WW2 recipe for chocolate cake that only required the ingredients available during rationing. This cake has no eggs and no butter. The children worked in groups to make the cakes - I cannot wait to hear what the children think of the taste.
This half term, in science, the Year 6 children have been learning all about the circulatory system. After learning about the heart and the blood vessels, today was the day that the children learned all about BLOOD. During this science lesson, the children learned about the 4 components that make up blood: red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets. To make the learning more memorable, the children made their own blood using representations of each of the components.
Year 6, have been pencil sketching in art and have tried out a variety of techniques to create sketches of WW2 soldiers. These are their first attempts.
Year 6 had an incredible time at Eden Camp today. First of all, I would just like to say how amazing your children are! Their behaviour and engagement throughout the day was completely faultless and it was a real pleasure to take them on the trip.
The children were so enthusiastic and excited when looking around the huts and their knowledge and questioning was outstanding. Despite the rain, we all had the best time and learned so much about WW2. As part of our computing lessons the Year 6 children have been learning about how computers communicate. As part of this learning, the children have used Scratch to 'work on' a project that someone else had created. The aim of this lesson was to demonstrate how several people can work on the same project , at different points in time whilst in different places.
Year 6 have been working on their sketching skills. They have been been using different grades of pencils to create different shades and tones and have also practiced several shading techniques. The next step will be for the children to apply these skills to creating a pencil sketch based on our class topic - WW2II.
