For the past two weeks, Year 6 have been carefully designing an ocean themed clay tile. They have thought about every aspect of their design and have practised moulding clay using plasticine. All this planning and practice has paid off as they have made their tile from clay today - they look amazing so far. The next steps will be to paint and varnish their clay tile once it is dry
This week, in maths, the children have practiced adding and subtracting decimal numbers and finding percentages of amounts in more fun way than usual. I gave the children a menu for a popular restaurant and asked them to price up their favourite meal. To develop on this, I then gave the children a discount to see if they could calculate their new bill with discount applied. Following this, they then did a brand new order for themselves and a friend or family member. The children really enjoyed doing this and all were successful in achieving the maths learning objective.
