This week, Year 6 have been learning about rationing during WW2. We found an official WW2 recipe for chocolate cake that only required the ingredients available during rationing. This cake has no eggs and no butter. The children worked in groups to make the cakes - I cannot wait to hear what the children think of the taste.
This half term, in science, the Year 6 children have been learning all about the circulatory system. After learning about the heart and the blood vessels, today was the day that the children learned all about BLOOD. During this science lesson, the children learned about the 4 components that make up blood: red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets. To make the learning more memorable, the children made their own blood using representations of each of the components.
Year 6, have been pencil sketching in art and have tried out a variety of techniques to create sketches of WW2 soldiers. These are their first attempts.
Year 6 had an incredible time at Eden Camp today. First of all, I would just like to say how amazing your children are! Their behaviour and engagement throughout the day was completely faultless and it was a real pleasure to take them on the trip.
The children were so enthusiastic and excited when looking around the huts and their knowledge and questioning was outstanding. Despite the rain, we all had the best time and learned so much about WW2. |
