This week we have completed our seaside paintings based on the Artist 'Pierre Auguste Renoir'. This Artwork has took weeks of hard work and concentration! First the children had to cut out their seaside shapes which was very tricky as many of them were very delicate. Then, they created a seaside landscape and mixed the paint with white to create different tones. Once year 2 had created their excellent landscapes they coloured in their pictures, positioned them and then used different materials to create a border around their work. The finished effects are fantastic! Have a look...
This half term year 2 are learning about everyday materials in Science. This week we completed an investigation in class where we tried to find materials and objects in class which would bend, squash, stretch and twist. We discovered that there are some objects which cannot change state and some that might be able to change in different ways. We discussed how very hard materials changed less often that soft, flexible materials.
This was our first Scientific investigation in year 2 and I was very impressed by how the children moved around the classroom, carefully and sensibly investigating materials and working well with their partners. Welcome to our year 2 blog. We are very excited to begin a new school year with you all and are looking forward to teaching you all. We are already very impressed with how you have all adapted to year 2 and how hard you are working! Below is a copy of the welcome booklet we sent home at the start of the week. It contains information about PE days and class routines.
