Well done to all of our class who today represented our school in such a positive light. All children completed 4 laps of the football pitch which in total was just under a mile. Every single child in Year 4 completed this and I was so proud of them. There was a torrential downpour, but this did not stop the determination of Year 4. It was a participation event and we celebrated the fact that we had so many children participating. Saying that, we did come 1st and 2nd in the girls' race and we also came 2nd in the boys' race! Great effort and keep on running!
Currently, Year 4 are learning about the internet. Last week, they learnt how the internet works and this week, they are putting that into into action. They have been looking at a range of websites including: Newsround, Horrible Histories and the Kexborough Primary School website. They have really enjoyed searching the internet and we had a recap of safety rules whilst on the internet and what to do if they see something that makes them feel uncomfortable. They really enjoyed looking at the blogs and even saw some of their siblings on the other year groups' blogs.
Well done to the two pupils below who have been elected as our student council representatives! A large handful of children created some fantastic speeches to try to get themselves elected and they should be very proud of themselves. I am really looking forward to them going to their first meeting and feeding back to the rest of the class what they have found. 1st step school council; final step prime minister!
Today, we have been completing a skills lesson in Art. Our L.O was "To experiment with different grades of pencil to draw different forms and shapes." Even though myself and some of the children may not be natural artists, we never gave in and applied the skills of sketching and shading to draw different characters that could go on on our masterpiece at the end of the half term. We have learnt a lot about what works and what does not work. Keep an eye on the web page for our final masterpieces in a few weeks time.
Today, we looked at how network switches and routers worked. We completed a practical lesson where we passed messages between different buildings such as Barnsley Hospital, a fire station, a police station and an office. It was a lot of fun and we learnt a lot about the intricacies.
Welcome to the new 2022-2023 new school year. I can't believe we are here already! All 28 children are starting to settle into the new school year and beginning to learn the rules and expectations set in Year 4. We have completed some amazing autobiographies which we have been able to compare to the ones that we completed in Year 3. We could not believe the difference. I have really enjoyed learning all about the children and knowing their hobbies and interests, dislikes and their aims and aspirations. WE are going to be creating a display with all of this fantastic work. Well done Year 4!
