In our R.E lessons this half term, we are focussing on the theme friendship. For this topic, we have looked at what makes a good friend and how we can overcome a disagreement with a friend. From this, we first discussed ways we can make up with a friend and then they showed their own ideas through making their own wheel of choice. Have a look below to see some work completed by the children. During our Monday whole school assemblies, there has been a huge focus on British Values. First, we focused on the word 'democracy' and what we could do to ensure we are being democratic within our school. From the assembly, each year group was set a task to elect two student council members. There was initially lots of interest in joining the school council but after multiple votes in class, the votes spoke for themselves and I am happy to announce our members of the student council the below.
To mark the Queen's funeral yesterday, each child at KPS made their own version of the Queen's portrait so we could display them for everyone to see. In year 1, each child was extremely focused and I was so proud of all the finished portraits. Incase you haven't already seen, have a look at all our beautiful portraits above.
Today and every Wednesday afternoon until half term, we are very fortunate to have a visitor come in to visit us. Each week, Coach Boots will teach us various skills through team games and races. This is to introduce the idea of working in a team and to be competitive with other teams too. This week, the children took part in some 'silly' races using a foam noodle. The children really enjoyed the P.E lesson today and they are looking forward to continue working with Coach Boots. In light of the news of the Queen's death. As a class, we looked at key moments of Queen Elizabeth's reign such as her coronation, her wedding, the birth of the new King and her Platinum Jubilee. We really enjoyed looking back at Queen Elizabeth's life and we will continue to commemorate her life this coming week.
