Today, we have recapped our understanding of continents and oceans. We then introduced an atlas and its purpose. After, we used our atlas to locate the continents and oceans to make our own map. Have a look below at some of the finished pieces. This week to conclude our weather topic, we looked at sun safety and we should do to keep safe in the sun. From this, the children made posters to show their understanding. Have a look below to see how they got on. Today, we have been making our own fruit salad. First, we tried lots of different fruits including melon, peach, pineapple, plum, banana, grapes, strawberries, mango and kiwi. Once the children had tried the each fruit, they had to fill in the table to say whether they liked it or not. After, they had to decide which fruit they would like to put in their fruit salad and they had to plan it using a diagram. Then, everyone made their fruit salad with their plan as a guide. The children really enjoyed doing this as some of the children had never tried some of the fruit before. It was brilliant seeing all the children enthusiastic about trying new foods. Have a look below to see how they got on. A few weeks ago for the Platinum Jubilee, all the children in school had an opportunity to draw a portrait of the Queen to win a prize. All the entries were sent off and this week we received news that two children in KS1 won. Each child will receive a voucher and a chance to meet the Mayor! We are so proud of both of the girls and we think they have done some amazing portraits. Well done girls!
