Today, year 1 visited Wigfield Farm to learn more about animals. During our visit, the children had the opportunity to go around the farm and feed some of the animals. We saw some animals such as farm animals, llamas, geese, guinea pigs, meerkats and a range of birds. In the afternoon, the children went into the reptile room where they had the opportunity to hold a snake. The children have really enjoyed our visit and the children were fantastic the whole day. Have a look below to see some pictures of our visit. This week in maths, we are going to be looking at capacity. For today's lesson, we looked at a range of bottles and decided whether they were full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty and empty. We then ordered the bottles from empty to full and explained why for each of them. Finally in groups, we went around the classroom and labelled the bottles using the focus key words. I would like to thank everyone who donated the bottles as it made sure the children were able to have a fun lesson today. Have a look below to see what happened.
Today, we have celebrated World Book Day. To mark the occasion, all the children have dressed up as their favourite book character and we have completed story related activities in class. The books we have focussed on today were Stickman and Not a Stick. For this, we read both books and discussed the links between each book. Then, the children wrote about the different things that they could do with a stick. In the afternoon, we drew pictures of Stickman and made superhero stick characters. Have a look below at all the costumes and drawings. |
