Our focus story this week is about a kitchen porter who dreams about becoming a chef. It has made us think about the job that a chef does. On Wednesday we looked into the school kitchen to see if it was like our kitchen at home - everything seemed soooo big! We said that's because there is a lot more children to cook for. Our school cooks showed us how the big dishwasher works.
Children have been practising looking when they paint. They have used watercolours to look carefully at the tulips and paint what they see.
Here are just a few photos from play this week - children building, drawing and writing, reading, reciting poetry. It's been a wonderful week of creativity and business.
Our focus story has been 'The Tale of the Whale' - a story about a child who, after riding on the back of a whale, discovers that although the sea can be a wonderful place, it is being spoiled by plastic. We have been learning how we can look after our world; we can put rubbish in the bin, recycle some objects and use charity shops and turn lights off when we don't need them. We really are learning how to make sure our world stays a beautiful place.
When we read 'Monkey Puzzle' we learnt that some baby animals look like their parents and some do not, like tadpoles and caterpillars.
We also learnt that some animals hatch when they are born and some animals are born live. We have really enjoyed learning about animals over the last couple of weeks and the children's pictures are demonstrating their understanding. Ps. We also learnt that snakes coil - see coiling in provision. |
