This week we have read The Tiger Who Came to Tea. We have been using new vocabulary to describe the tiger's behaviour, such as polite, rude, considerate. We have been using these words in class to reinforce the language and understanding. We have also been thinking about which other animals might come to tea and how they might behave - we thought a giraffe would be too tall and knock the chandelier off the ceiling! The children have been using some stuffed animals and resources in the construction area to make houses and tables so the animals can have tea. Also, we have been learning about the work of artist Steven Brown - he paints animals in colourful ways. We have discussed his work and then we have painted tigers - we have learnt how to use a thin paintbrush to make careful strokes for the tiger's fur. Imagine a tiger who comes for tea looking like ours!!!
We have been learning a little about Easter this week; learning that it is an important celebration because it is when we remember Jesus and we have read a story about a family who enjoy visiting church on Easter Sunday. We have been painting and decorating eggs shapes, making Easter egg and chocolate factories in construction, writing lists, Easter numeral hunt and competitively egg rolling (comparing the effectiveness of different ramps). Have a lovely Easter Break everyone! |
