Over the last few weeks we have been learning about the moon and space. Our interest started when we read the story 'Whatever Next' - about a teddy who flies to the moon in a box. We have been asking questions to learn more, such as, could we fly to the moon? Who can fly to the moon? Can people live on the moon? Can people live in space? How do astronauts get into space? How do they get back?
We have learnt how to make rockets out of card, we've learnt how to smudge chalks and pastels to make space pictures and we've built rockets and space-scapes in construction and small world amongst other exciting things. Chinese New Year is on the 12th February this year. It is different every year depending on the new moon. We have been learning the celebrations so we can understand how another culture is different to ours - or similar. We have absolutely loved making dragons, rabbits (it's the year of the rabbit) and lanterns to decorate our classroom. These activities are developing our fine motor skills as well as our imagination.
