We have been reading 'The Tiger who came to Tea'. We have been learning that tea is a plant and it is dried and crushed into tea bags. We have been using a teacup and saucer to taste tea. Most of us really enjoyed it.
We have also been learning about the artist, Steven Brown who paints animals in different colours. This left us imagining what it would be like if a multi-coloured tiger came to tea... Today we have looked totally awesome!!!! Everyone has dressed up and had fun. As you know, we love stories in Bear Cubs and today we've listened to a new one; 'The Leaf Thief' - squirrel thinks someone is stealing the leaves but he finds out it's actually the wind. We have been searching for new leaves in the school grounds because the wind took most of the leaves before Christmas! We have found green leaves and we saw some frogs laying frog spawn too - this must mean it's spring!
Back in the classroom we have been making model squirrels. We learnt how to make cylinder shapes with paper before, when we made rockets and chinese lanterns. This week our key text is 'Six Dinner Sid' - a story about a cat who lives on a street of six houses and visits each one every day for a dinner until... one day he gets a cough and has to go the vet.
We have made a Vets role play in class where children are learning how to speak as a receptionist, owner of a pet and of course a vet. "I'm just going to give him a shot." "I wonder, has he been playing in the garden at all because he's got a thorn in his ear." "Good morning, do you have an appointment?" We have also been making homes for pets in construction and small world. |
