In maths, Year 6 are learning about area and perimeter. To begin this topic, we have recapped on previous learning from years 4 and 5 and have investigated several questions within this topic using coloured tiles as manipulatives. The children had to create shapes, using tiles, to match a given area. They then had to find the perimeter of the shape and vice versa. Developing on this, the children were set a series of challenges such as: Can you create a a shape that has a larger area than perimeter? Can you make a shape that has the same area as its perimeter? etc
