Art - Portraits

This half term in Art, we are learning all about portraits. We are looking at the amazing work of the artist Frida Kahlo to inspire us and by the end of the topic we will be creating our very own self-portraits.

Today we focused on one really important part of the face – the eyes! We thought carefully about the shape of the eye, where the pupil goes and how the eyelid changes the look of it. We also looked at how eyebrows and eyelashes can show expression and make each eye unique.

We had a go at drawing eyes ourselves, trying out different shapes and details. These are just our first attempts, but we are excited to keep practising and can’t wait to see how our self-portraits turn out!
