A Grinch-tastic Visit!

16/12/2025

Today, we had a very special (and very mischievous!) visitor — the Grinch came to school to host his very own game show!
The teachers bravely took part in a series of silly challenges, but there was a twist… every game ended with something horrible being tipped, splatted, or thrown on them! From sticky syrup and eggs to cream pies and slimy slime, not a single teacher escaped the Grinch’s mischief.
To finish off the day, all children had the chance to have their photo taken with the Grinch.
Take a look at our photos of the Grinch.

Healthy Eating Workshop

10/12/2025

Today, we had some special visitors (from the school nursing team) in school who led a fantastic workshop all about the importance of healthy eating. The session was fun, interactive and full of interesting facts that got us all thinking about the food we eat and how it affects our bodies.

We started by discussing what makes up a balanced diet and why it's important to avoid too much sugar. We explored the question, “How does our food affect our body functions and organs?” — and some of the answers really surprised us!

Throughout the session, we took part in a range of hands-on activities. One of our favourites was working in teams to guess how much sugar was in different food and drink items. It was eye-opening to see just how much sugar is hidden in some everyday snacks!

Next, we played a group game using the Eatwell Plate. We had to sort different foods into the correct food groups, helping us to understand how much of each type of food we should eat to stay healthy and strong.

We also worked together on a giant body map activity, where we discussed how certain foods affect different parts of our body and our organs. It was a great way to visualise the impact of our diet on things like the heart, brain, muscles and more.

We learned so much during the workshop and had a brilliant time doing it. A big thank you to our visitors for making healthy eating fun and informative!

Exploring Judaism

9/12/2025

In RE lessons, we’ve started learning about Judaism, focusing on the special rituals of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. These ceremonies mark an important milestone in the lives of Jewish boys and girls as they take on new responsibilities within their community.

To deepen our understanding, we watched videos that explained what happens during a Bar or Bat Mitzvah and why these events are so meaningful. We then linked this learning to our own lives by discussing the milestones that have been important to us, such as birthdays, starting school, or achieving a personal goal. It was great to see the similarities and differences between the Jewish traditions and our own experiences!

If you'd like to revisit what we learned, here are two helpful links:
  • BBC One - Being... Ethan prepares for his Bar Mitzvah
  • Religious Studies KS2: What is a Bat Mitzvah? - BBC Teach
We’re looking forward to learning more about Jewish rituals and traditions in the coming weeks!
