Year 4 had a brilliant time in their French lesson this week, as they learned how to say the names of different pets in French. From cats and dogs to rabbits and hamsters, the children worked hard to listen carefully and practise their pronunciation. 🐶🐱🐰
It was wonderful to see everyone joining in so enthusiastically, repeating the new words and applying new knowledge to a "Vrai ou Faux" activity. Learning another language can sometimes be tricky, but the class showed great determination and confidence throughout the session. To end the lesson on a high, the children enjoyed singing along to a fun French song all about pets. Here is the link to the song so the children can rehearse at home. Les animaux song This week, our amazing Year 4 children rolled up their sleeves and headed out into the local community to take part in a very special project – litter picking to help the environment. The children were full of enthusiasm and energy, and their determination really paid off. By the end of the two hours, the group had managed to collect an incredible 10 huge bags of litter! Everyone was shocked by just how much rubbish they found in the local area. It really opened our eyes to the impact litter can have on our surroundings, and reminded us all of the importance of taking care of the places where we live, learn and play. The children showed fantastic teamwork and resilience, carefully collecting litter and making sure the community was left looking much cleaner and tidier. They worked brilliantly together and set a shining example of how even small actions can make a big difference to the environment. We would like to say a very big thank you to Mr. Grace for supporting the event and keeping spirits high throughout the morning. We are also extremely grateful to Barnsley Norse, who kindly released a member of staff to lend a hand and provided all of the litter pickers and bag holders. Without their generosity and support, this project would not have been possible. This was not only a fantastic way for our pupils to learn about the importance of looking after the environment, but also a chance for them to feel proud of making a positive impact in their community. They are true eco-heroes, and we couldn’t be prouder of them. Well done, Year 4 I am delighted to welcome all our new Year 4 children to what promises to be a fantastic year! We have so many exciting experiences ahead, including our trip to Peak Venture, starting swimming lessons and the multiplication check—which I am especially looking forward to. This year, your children will be learning with Mr Brocksom and Miss Ellis. Mr Brocksom is passionate about teaching Maths and PE, while Miss Ellis is an expert in phonics and will help ensure a smooth transition from KS1 to KS2, building on all the wonderful work Miss Cocker achieved last year.
