Ancient Egypt!

Our topic for the Summer term is “Ancient Egypt” We will be travelling back in time thousands of year to the banks of the River Nile, where we will learn all about the amazing people and places of Ancient Egypt.
Our lessons will involve us:

• Comparing Ancient Egypt to today and finding out what food, drink, and possessions would be in ancient Egyptian homes as well as the types of jobs people would do.
• Discussing what made the ancient Egyptians such successful farmers and discover how they planted their crops around the flooding cycles of the River Nile
• Researching and finding out that the ancient Egyptians left behind written records on their buildings and on papyrus scrolls.

In our first lesson, we have had lots of discussion about Ancient Egypt and started our topic off with locating Egypt on a world map, finding out that Egypt is in the continent Africa and has a capital city called Cairo. We then compared England to Egypt and made comparisons between the two countries. Year 3 are really eager to find out more about the Ancient Egyptians!
