This week, Year 2 have been learning all about how to eat a healthy, balanced diet. We have been thinking carefully about the different food groups our bodies need to stay strong, energetic and ready to learn. The children explored what makes a balanced meal and why it is important to include a mix of fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates, protein and dairy. We talked about how different foods help our bodies in different ways, from giving us energy to helping us grow. After learning about balanced diets, the children planned and drew their own balanced meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They carefully chose foods for each meal and explained why they were a healthy choice. Their drawings show a fantastic understanding of how to balance different food groups across the day. We were so impressed with how well thought out and neatly presented their work is. The children took great pride in their drawings and were excited to share their ideas with their classmates. Please enjoy the photos of Year 2 proudly showing their balanced breakfast, lunch and dinner drawings. Well done, Year 2, for your excellent learning and thoughtful meal planning!
