Year 2 used all their knowledge of the properties of materials from our science topic this term to design boats made from scrap materials. They were given the criteria that the boat must have a sail and be able to float a cargo of one large marble in water for 10 seconds. The children brought many of the materials in and had a fabulous time making the boats, as you can see from the photographs. They then predicted what would happen to the boats when they were put into water. All the children, and Mrs Ellis, were very surprised when all the boats floated! Maybe some of these children will be ship builders of the future! Comments are closed.
