This half term, the children in Year 2 have been building their skills in cutting and paint mixing and their knowledge of textures to create these seascape masterpieces. The children are so proud of their hard work and we hope you will agree that their collages look very effective. Year 2 used all their knowledge of the properties of materials from our science topic this term to design boats made from scrap materials. They were given the criteria that the boat must have a sail and be able to float a cargo of one large marble in water for 10 seconds. The children brought many of the materials in and had a fabulous time making the boats, as you can see from the photographs. They then predicted what would happen to the boats when they were put into water. All the children, and Mrs Ellis, were very surprised when all the boats floated! Maybe some of these children will be ship builders of the future! In computing this week, we have been looking at what makes a good photograph. We worked with a partner to take photos in different places and scored them out of 10 based on how good the lighting was.
