This half term in PE we have been working on a dance unit inspired by The Three Little Pigs. We have learned the dance in three sections - the straw house; the stick house and the brick house. I wonder if you can see the sections as you watch our video? The children worked hard to dance in in a synchronised way and use different levels. We think the final performance is fantastic! (Apologies for the finger over the camera lens at one point!) This term we are drawing inspiration from the artist, Alma Thomas. We have experimented with overlapping shapes and this week, used contrasting colours and layering to create some really effective artwork. We hope you like our compositions as much as Mrs Ellis does! Today we celebrated World Book Day at school. The children came to school in costume or something cosy that they would like to read in, like their pyjamas. We had a lovely time, talking about our favourite books and drawing their front covers. At the end of the day, Year 2 enjoyed Year 6 coming to read stories to them which they had written themselves. What a super day! In Computing this half term, Year 2 have been learning to program using “Scratch Junior”. We have learnt how to program sprites and to change them too. Last lesson we learnt to change the backgrounds to match the sprites and to program each sprite with its own set of instructions. We worked very carefully to make sure that the commands for each sprite matched the instructions we had been given. Finally, we experimented with creating our own background and sprites, each following their own set of instructions. We have really enjoyed being creative with our program designs and are proud of the results. |
