This week our story focus has been 'Whatever Next' the story of a bear who goes to the moon. This has inspired our rocket making! In DT children have been creating rockets using different shaped blocks and we have learnt how to manipulate card and paper into cylinder and cone shapes. We watched a shuttle launch too and heard the engines ROAR!!!!! A shout out to these children who have used lots of detail in their buildings. We love the way all these buildings show children have worked with care, patience and imagination. We have been reading 'Peepo' - a story set in the past. We have been learning through this story and some non-fiction books how some things were different in the past. This linked to our story-time books 'Old Bear' and 'The Sea Saw.' On Wednesday we brought our own teddies into school and spoke about how old they were. One teddy belonged to someone's mummy when she was a little girl so he was old and looked well-loved! We also enjoyed playing with the old wooden toys.
In Kidnetics this week, the children warmed up using their core strength which took a lot of concentration and grit. The games focused on using space well by not bumping into anyone and really moving carefully in different ways.
